It is not about how long you delay death.
It is.

It is about not spending your last twenty years with chronic bad health.
Still wrong
Given the option I would rather have chronic illness than death.
If you can avoid chronic illness, avoid it. But not everyone can. As I have told my daughters when I die I will have spent all your inheritance. Unless I die young and the dog gets everything.

I would definitely NOT!

When I was very ill I got to the point where I seriously questioned whether I wanted to carry on. I was so weak that I couldn't read, listen to music, watch TV, use the computer, talk to anybody, have the light on, have the curtains open, or eat more than a couple of mouthfuls of food a day.

After more than a month of drifting in and out of sleep, having nightmares when asleep, and being terrified when I was awake, I'd had enough. But then, finally, I did start to get better. If things had not improved I doubt that I would have stood even another 3 months of it before topping myself***.

*** Actually, I probably couldn't have managed it without help... I'd have asked for a 1-way ticket to Switzerland or some other country more enlightened than the UK.
