A chap I worked with once had a pair of these.

www.greentyre.co.uk/racer.html

I rode the bike and was dubious at first. They felt a bit harder than a pnumatic tyre at 100 psi.

The lower spec version might have been better.

He never got a puncture and after a year's use, they were compounded with small metal swarf curls because his route into work passed a metal recyling yard.

"Good on him." I said.

I'm a continental die-hard; GP4000, 4 seasons, ultra gatorskins & city contacts. The latter 2 being on the bikes I'd used for commuting.

Kenda Kontender
Value - Excellent, they came free with the bike
Grip - good
Durability - Appalling - p* frequently, and the bead on the rear tyre separated from the tyre carcass.

Schwalbe Stelvio (Wire on, 25C)
Value - Pretty good - £30 for a pair at LBS
Grip - No complaints at all
Speed - Quicker than the Kontenders (imo)
Durability - Middling - p* resistance adequate, but not indestructible.

Conti Ultra Gatorskin - 25C wire on
Value - Pretty good - £35 on offer at wiggle with free tubes
Speed - Good - a nicely rolling tyre
Grip - Very nice in the dry, dicey (to say the least) in the wet
Durability - Excellent

Schwalbe Hurricane's seeing as though I use them.

Seriously though, I would only really recommend them if you need the option of going off-road as well (as I do), otherwise you could go for the Marathon.

You could argue that for the winter I could change my tyres as I do not take the off-road route when the weather is bad, but to be honest I wanted to 'fit and forget' which I have done for the best part of 2500 miles.
