Aldi had some Currywurst flavour crisps for the tie in with Oktoberfest, and very nice they were too!

In Aldi just before Christmas there were Lobster flavoured crisps in a large ‘sharing’ packet. Bought one and boy did they taste like Lobster. Went back but they were all sold out, damn they were good.

Worcestershire Sauce flavour, if you can find any!

B&M usually have the Seabrook ones in at least. Tesco (well, the one here in Ely does at any rate) sells the Walkers ones. IIRC, the french fries version only comes in the grab bags you see as part of a meal deal.

Before the pubs opened all day we used to go to our local Joseph Holt's around one on a Sunday afternoon for the regular session, dinner was a packet of Brannigans beef and mustard, with a dessert of Brannigans cheese and chive.

After being kicked out at three it was over the road to Zaman's shop for a few cans before settling down to Brian Moore on The Big Match.

Happy days. 😊🍻

Yes, I remember hedgehog flavour crisps. I worked in my then local pub behind the bar in the early 1980's. The pub sold them though they weren't that popular after being tried once. To me they tasted like that roast chicken flavour which is pretty bland.

Inspired by the Foods you can't skimp thread, what are the best crisp flavours out there?

For me it will always be hard to beat the 90 Brannigans' - Roast Beef and Mustard. I've seen there's a modern version but it doesn't compare.

In modern ones I do have a soft spot for a good Sea Salt and Cracked Pepper

I used to love them too, was there a ham and something flavour too?
Several years ago, me and two workmates were discussing how great they were, and lamenting how they were not available in supermarkets.

I looked online and managed to find a wholesaler, and ended up getting something like 250 packs delivered to my workplace, which we then split between us

They tasted just as good as I remembered.

I looked them up more recently, and there was older article that suggested they were only available in pubs etc, but then I saw one that said that they had all gone bust - sad times :-(

Outside of that, my personal favourite is Salt and vinegar, and given the choice, Kettle's version - perfect taste, and texture for me.

Martin Lewis (Who also knows S&V is the best flavour crips) carried out a blind tasting at this office, and an Asda one came out on top - I don't have an Asda near me so have never gotten to taste one :-(

THE best, albeit the plain ones. Its odd because they are very plain but theres something SO moreish about them. Havnt seen them for years, and knowing modern trends, someone's probably mucked around with the recipe and spoiled them.

i also liked the plain ones, and the onion ones, and the chicken ones!

There's a time and a place where crisps seem to hit the spot, but on the whole i think the most generous description i can give to any particular flavour isn't "best" so much as "least bad"!

XL Crisps made the best ever cheese flavour crisps,

according to the below (watch on 1 hour, 13 minutes) video. XL were Rishy Crisps,

before becoming XL Crisps. The factory was in my home town of Great Harwood, Lancs. I knew quite a few folk who worked there. When we were at our secondary school in the 1970's, our teachers used to warn us that if we didn't study enough we'd end up working at Rishy Crisps. 😆 The factory made different flavour crisps on different days. You always knew when it was cheese flavour day as the whole town stank of a cheesey vomit smell!🤢 🤮 🤣
