Best deal extreme torch for bike light?

Hey,

I remember people talking about a torch from deal extreme as an alternative to buying expensive bike lights to light up the road.

Without me having to go trawling through the forums to find out which torch is best, can anyone here remember?

Many thanks

Do a cree led torch search on ebay. Bear in mind they're very bright but narrow beam, which is good for seeing but perhaps not so good at being seen.

I use this http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.14909

$20 and a couple of jubilee clips as a bar mounting. Brilliance and using standard AA rechargeables from Lidls (£2.50 for 4) its hard to beat for value for money.

I use a standard flashing CatEye to be seen. I use the Cree for pot hole spotting. It lights up the entire lane. Demonstrations available on tonight's FNRttC if it gets dark enough ...

http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.26800 is the one I use but I have modded it so it takes a single 18650 Li Ion cell - It should give about 10 hours on low setting and about 3 on high. It will blind people on high setting !!!!

Yes, thats the same one I mentioned in my thread link, I have 2 fitted, The advantage is the flood option, you can have one with a narrower beam and one on total flood. Do you think it is worth going with the 18650 battery, what is the advantage?

Sounds exactly the same as my winter set up.

I have one of those and .....

on the same mount.

I ride maybe 5-6 miles on unlit country roads in total darkness and i am fine.

Maybe 400 lumens total output from the 2 of them.

Maybe I got unlucky with these lights, but one only lasted about three weeks and they EAT batteries.

I used them for three months and bought a hope 1. I have that with a fenix LD20 on me bonce.

Ahh well it does say 3-4 hours of use , rechargeable s are the way to go.

Doesn't the hope 1 have a similar battery drain?
