The cycle route that runs from Saint-Nazaire to Nevers has been voted Best European Tourist Project for 2012 by the British Guild of Travel Writers last November.
Two-thirds of it follows the river Loire and is 800kms long. It took 17 years to develop at a cost of 52million euros.

If you are looking for somewhere to cycle next summer, that could be it. There are more than 300 hotels and B&Bs and restaurants in the scheme, offering facilities such as secure lock-ups and drying areas.
Why can't they do something like that overhere? There are plenty of beautiful areas suitable for it, especially in Wales.
