Maybe it depends on exactly where you are as to the accuracy of rain fall, but I have seen it to be almost minute accurate which is not only important to a cyclist, but if your going to play golf all year round on the west coast you really need this app. Your right though, it's predominantly used for Wind and the like.

Another vote for yr.no - consistently the most accurate.
Unlike the BBC, which is consistently the least reliable, in my experience.

Try XC Weather, I know of at least one ferry skipper who swears by it.

When I toured the Outer Hebrides the locals used and recommended this source and I found it very accurate. I've since used it at home, Lancashire, and agree it's good here as well.

However I find the BBC app when used locally, plug in your home town, destination etc., to be by far the simplest and very accurate. I'm more than happy with the BBC app and find it very accurate in relation to my cycling activities.

It used to be rubbish for me in Met Office days, with Accuweather much better.

Now BBC is good post-Meteogroup and Accuweather is lacking. Maybe it varies by area.

Ah okay I didn't realise they hadn't switched. Anyway my weather is easy to predict: sunny when I'm at work, rain when I'm cycling and headwinds for both directions of my commute. Perhaps I should just email my schedule to the BBC.
