Just thinking about setting up a website (again!) and I know the experience I had with a previous provider (who shall remain nameless) was not what I would call A1. So has anyone else had good (and more importantly, cheap) experiences with other providers?

Cheers!

Mel.

I use Namesco. Based in Worcester, UK based English speaking helpdesk, now owned by some french company

I'd recommend them form my own experiences. Not the cheapest, but a damned sight better than the others i've used.

I use Hostgator's "Baby plan" because that lets me set up unlimited domains on one account. It has been very reliable for the 14 months that I have been using it, unlike the previous company I used which was terrible.

If you are certain that you only want one domain, the "Hatchling plan" is cheaper.

If you decide to go for Hostgator (I won't be cheeky and post my affiliate link!) make sure you do a Google search for "hostgator coupon" - you can always get a discount off the standard prices.

Hi - thanks for all your replies!

I'm looking to set up a pretty simple site - the last one used joomla but I might make it even simpler this time and go for something like iweb which I know is not very customisable but on the other hand is easily edited.

I don't expect my bandwidth to be very huge - under a gig a month certainly!

Oh, I mainly want to display photos in a slideshow type stylee and a bit about me, perhaps a blog, contact form.

So, anyway, don't need my hosting to be uber-fantastic, just quick, simple and cheap.

Cheers,

Mel.

Mel,

Don't know how cheap you're looking for, but we have been using United Hosting for many years, and have no complaints. UK based servers, excellent support, hosting from a fiver a month.
