Thanks for the compliments. Wanting to improve my photography I spent a while on various photography forums and websites doing my homework, along with some excellent photos I’d seen from a crazy-guy-on-a-bike member who had used an LX3.

I initially wanted a camera that used AA batteries - then I could recharge on my dynamo charger (homer), but was not exactly the most suited criteria to improving my photography!! With such limited choice, in the end bit-the-bullet and chose otherwise, it just meant going back to the garden shed to make another charger (shown on my blogs Project page)

So in the end I chose the LX5 (purchased last Feb), not so easy to get as most shops were selling the [newer] LX7. The newer features being of no interest to me….along with the newer price! but managed to get the LX5 online at a bargain.

I fitted a lens sleeve and polarising lens, on a photo I really want work well I’ll take several repeated shots, adjusting the lens to get the desired result, it can be hit n’ miss but it’s all part of learning curve!

For distant (zoom-in) shots it’s not the best camera and selection of telephoto lenses are somewhat limited, something like a Nikon, Fuji or Canon would be more suited for that but overall it’s a great camera, reasonably compact and reasonably powerful.

On the photo's shown (and on my blog) I add the rounded-corner border and reduce the file size to ~20% to make uploading and page loading (for people viewing the blog) quicker by using the free software Photoscape.....it's fool-proof and impatient-people proof, so suits me!

For anyone wanting to select a new camera I suggest this (unbiased) website;
Mark.

Great photos, been to some of the places myself but they look better in your pics than I remembered them!
