Question for all you graphic designers out there please.

Could anyone please recommend a decent retailer from whom I can buy an honest copy of Adobe Photoshop CS4 for a decent price ?

I can't believe how much prices vary for Adobe software, obviously some people are selling dodgy copies and others are just having a laugh with their over inflated prices.

Be grateful for any suggestions.

Well...if you really want to save money buying a legit copy the easiest way is....to become a student!

Seriously, if you sign up for the appropriate course, you can get a student number and ID, which you can then use to buy the student version of Adobe software (CS4 is around £100 for student version). That's the easiest way to buy cheap I reckon.

I usually recommend buying directly from Adobe's online shop to our customers - none of our distributor sources seem to offer it cheap enough.

Second the Creative Suite and student advice too.

Cheers,

You have to be a student to get the student discount. Anything else and you don't get to whinge about MPs' expenses.....

But you can have kids to count .... I know we bought an education licence for Word a few years ago which we qualified for because of the children - they use it, and powerpoint etc for their homework. I have to admit now that the eldest is about to start GCSE's including Art I was contemplating updating my very old Adobe (v5.5) for her. Does it count being at GCSE level to get the student licence for Adobe?

yes it does.

I am a student (university) and I bought a few things from www.software4students.co.uk

They can take a while to deliver though - they need to check with the educational establishment that your student ID and details are legit.

Or, Google Keygen.exe.....sshh

There's no such thing as a free lunch and keygens nearly always contain trojans or keyloggers which relay all your credit card numbers, PIN numbers and passwords back to a hacker as you type them.

Oh, and if you do it that way just buy the whole creative suite, not just Photoshop.

Hi Melvil,

Thanks for the recommendation for Creative Suite. Actually, I'd also like Flash, but as far as I can tell, the only version of Creative Suite to include both Photoshop and Flash is the Web Premium version, which costs about as much as a small house.

Ah...Well, I'm sure you can get it separate! Hope it helped, anyway!

BTW, CS4 rocks, much faster (for me) than previous version and livetrace and livepaint on Illustrator has helped me immeasurably.
