Back to the fax topic , My Daughter works for the NHS and they still have a fax machine in the office. My late Father-In-Law sent a fax to someone, and it wouldn't work. Then someone pointed out that he had the paper upside down.

It didn't cost you a lot then?

No it came free.

WHen my daughter was little - so the early 2000s - we lived in Bangor North Wales

we used to go for a wlak from the house down along the front to the pier and this meant passing a car garage and they had a little shop that sold sweets and stuff

including little wraps of sweets costing 2p or 5p

she used to save up her pocket money but would put some aside to but these at weekends

bet they cost a lot more nowadays!!

Google "50p Lil" - in fact dont Google it if you're prone to feeling queasy.

That was the cheapest thing you could buymin this town.

We’ve got a beggar in Lowestoft called ‘50p Chris’. As that was what he used to ask for……

I believe he is currently spending some time at her Majesty’s leisure.

And I do expect inflation to have taken its toll by release time - and he’ll have been renamed “One pound and twelve pence Chris”……

I did that in my first job. We had partners in France and I had to fax them an 80 page document. I was well through it before someone rang to ask why we were sending them blank pages
