Best place to 'get' a pub bike?

The police - they have a stockpile of old stolen unclaimed bikes. I know this because a charity I know in Kent buys them for a completely risible sum and teaches NEETS to do them up. They buy 50 at a time but you could try asking.

Why don't you take your bike IN the pub? I do,then i chain it to one of the tables.

1990's GT mtb's crop up regularly on EBay sub £50, I bought one and had 4 years out of it before it was pressed into service for my lads paper round, still going strong.

And something like a GT Outpost is rugged and cheap, well enough made to ride anywhere. Just plain high tensile steel, but not heavy.
