I'm typing this from the ferry, so I got there in time! Very easy from Fratton station, in the end. Thanks all for the tips.
Enjoy the crossing, I like those Brittany Ferries when they're not overrun with school trips! Enjoy Caen et ses environs too. Don't do what I did and end up on your bike on the péripherique. You'll soon find a way off it!

Is Fratton station still the preferred option for getting off of to go to the Brittany Ferries international port. Also how strict is the 45 mins arrival before sailing

Point one: Yes.
Point two: No idea, I've run it close from time to time with Brittany Ferries and others, but never been late. I wouldn't risk it.

Thanks all, with all the problems with train disruption yesterday and today, we have decided to get an earlier train. We're six women cycling the D-Day beaches for 5 days, so looking forward to being free stop look and take in the views on our bikes. Many thanks for all your comments - appreciate it.

Todays Top-Tip: Get to the ferry terminal on time, but don't get in the check-in queue too early or you just end up being shepherded through the first part of the departure process (security) and then left to stand about in a soul-less, amenity free car park along with the queuing cars for ages before they actually let you board the ferry. IMHO it's best to spend the down time at the reception building where there is at least toilets, shelter, a shop or two, and catering. Then with about 45 minutes to go, check in and get straight onto the ferry. Enjoy the trip!
