Hello all, I have been browsing the Internet for a road bike, and my budget is 600pounds, Finance. I have seen a few bikes, and what not but I don't know whats good for my budget, I have had my eye on a CANNONDALE 2013 SYNAPSE SORA ROAD BIKE at Web Price £549.00 I can not afford the rates of a local shop, so I'm buying online, I just need pushing in right direction. I'm looking for a 3x9/8 speed really. Thanks.

Premier League wages can only get you a £600 budget?!

There's a lot around that sort of price from the usual big players: Trek, Specialized, Giant and Raleigh all have decent offerings. You could also get a Wiggle (Verenti) or Ribble with a decent spec.

Might just be worth going into your local shop and ask if they will price match. Some shops are allied to certain manufacturers so might not be able to, but worth a go. If you have a problem your LBS will be the easiest/quickest fix for you. Don't get too hung up on discounts, chances are it will be negated when you have the frustration of dealing with a shop maybe hundreds of miles away if you have a prob. Cannondale have had good reviews on here and elsewhere so a good choice. There is plenty of competition for your money at that price point so there is plenty of choice. Good luck.

You can always try to negotiate on price with your local shop especially on older models. Price is not the only factor can be costly in so many ways if you end up with the wrong bike  Whereabouts do you live?

Local shop that does finance is surosa, but I dont think they do price match, I can't be sure they'd match 17pounds pcm? And Im From Oldham, just outside Manchester. I am checking Evans Cycles, but theyre expensive, even the finance plans are a little steep. Im looking at paying 20pounds month, in all fairness.

Evans certainly price match and do 0%. finance complicates things further. Don't forget to budget for good insurance if buying on the never, never...as well as couple of good locks, probably another £70-100

So I've seen on Evans two bikes, which is best for the price? And I can take these bikes for a spin as the Shop is 6miles away. The two Bikes are:

Keep it simple, please haha, I dont know much, I just know how to ride the things.

Why are you looking to use finance, have you reviewed other borrowing rates/options (if available)?

Had a Secteur, loved it, I do not know of the others. The new Secteur which you have listed is in a matte black IIRC, and looks absolutely terrific

I've just got the specialized. Lovely bike. I've really only started riding recently so my fitness levels are appalling but I've managed to spin up hills that I couldnt previously and hit 40 on the flats on it. Very comfortable though i've been having problems with the gears coming out of alignment (hopefully just the cables bedding in).

Had a look at the bike Chugsy mentioned this morning - very nice in the flesh. The 2 bikes you mention though are quite different in their approach - someone might correct me though. The secteur is more of a sportive geometry (aluminium Roubaix as far as I know) but the Scott is more of a race geometry bike akin to the Specialized Allez. The Scott does have better components though.
