Not very inspired, but go on, Keith Moon and Iggy Pop.

If non-rock stars were allowed to be best rock stars, I'd say Errol Flynn!

Wasn't it Led Zep who were approached by a hotel manager who said he'd always wanted to throw a telly out the window, so they gave him £100 and said 'Have one on us'?

And I see Keith Moon has many nominations. Roger Daltrey on Top Gear described how Moon and Viv Stanshall used to go up West in Moon's baby-pink Roller. Stanshall would dress up as a vicar, then Moon would let him out at one end of Oxford Street, wait for a while, then catch him up, scream to a halt and leap out hurling obscenities, then launch into a vicious attack on 'the vicar', punching and kicking him in front of the appalled bystanders, until both jumped back into the Roller and screeched off up the road...

Now that's rock 'n roll!

There was only one real rockstar....Ritchie Blackmore.

Nah. A competent guitarist, but hardly Rock n Roll in the same way the rest of them were. Is he famous for chucking tellies out of high rise hotels? Or driving cars into swimming pools? Or thinking up new ways to make stuff explode? No. I rest my case.:?:
Good player though, I'll give you that.

Stairway to Heaven is a rock classic.

..indeed it is.

I did a quick video on my mini camera
to show why I never joined Led Zeppelin:biggrin:.

I messed around with movie maker to make it look old..lucky for you all the battery on the camera ran out half way through the song...apologies for the performance and the sound quality, I just set the camera down and pushed record using th eon board mic...I make no claim to be a singer...and my left wrist is still not mended from the break.

It is important that anubody wishing to learn guitar plays this song at every visit to the guitar shop...it is expected;):?:

Wasn't the intro to Stairway To Heaven nicked from something that Randy California did in a Spirit song?

edit: Yes, it was "Taurus"

... and then in turn ripped off by Clapton for the intro to "Let it Grow".

There seems to be a consensus emerging that the use of rock and roll as an adjective could be loosely defined as the actions of a nicely brought up middle class musician when he wants to act like a spoilt, infantile prat.

In which case we might has well have someone who was at least prepared to pull guns on people: ladies and gennelmen, I give you Jerry Lee Lewis!
