Honda Jazz... there is no other option for a small car; huge luggage space (wonderful folding seats - they make me smile everytime I use them); excellent fuel economy; superb reliability; tremendous resale value....

Good call, but not that small, or cheap.

Generalisations: Buy Japanese, but not Nissan who are now French. Don't buy French or Italian. If you don't want Japanese buy German, which now includes Seat.

There you go, sorted ;0)

True!

That is good service. Although it'd have to be a pretty tiny car to not fit a bike with the wheel off =

Not True!

I have a 3 series and can't fit the bike in the boot with the wheel off! has to go in the back seat!

Depends what's important to you, really.

Reliable, solid, classless, decent resale ... VW Polo
Fun, gay, fun, estate-agenty, fun, expensive, fun ... Mini
Cheap, reliable, practical, entertaining ... Suzuki Swift

For my money, the Mini wins, but I work in advertising so that's excused.

I know a guy who says he can't get his bike in his Fiesta, with the back seats down, without taking 'both' wheels off!

Just put the back seats down? Or is it a saloon model?

Its a Saloon, also the bike is 62cm frame with the seat up a fair bit so would not go in most boots even with wheels off.

Perhaps not a fair example in hindsight!

Hmm...interesting that a lot of you say that the Yaris is a good car - we shall have to give it a spin and see what it's like.

Also, anyone know anything about 2nd hand VW Golf's? It's something we are also considering - however, they seem quite expensive?

My wife has an Astra and I can't get my bike in the back without taking both wheels off and that is with the seats down. The car just isn't wide enough, but as she is paying for it I didn't get much choice:wacko:

You can't go too far wrong with a Golf imo. They are capable of huge mileage and are better built and more refined than anything Japanese. The 1.9TDI engine is probably one of the finest engines ever fitted to any car.

You cant be doing it right then.
I got 2 bikes, track bike and normal road fixed, in the back of my Mums Pug 206.
I also get my TT bike in the back of it no problem.
And my road fixed has also gone into the back of my GFs Clio.

All with just taking off the front wheel.
