Now then, now then.
You're all right in your own way - no need to get at each other.
Peanut is right in that Frontpage offers a
simple web building tool for people who have no programming / design experience. IIRC the original request was for a
simple web building tool.
However, Gaz and HJ are right in that Frontpage creates
technically awful web pages, and if it is possible that the site may grow over the coming years, then it may be an idea to look at using something a little more robust to save any re-hashing later (
possibly expensive too if you've got to pay someone to do it for you).
From my own experience of designing web sites, I came from a programming background and learned to code HTML without any tools to begin with; so I always used a
neat-code approach to building my clients' sites (
even to the point of removing excessive spaces and newlines from the HTML - I know, bordering on anal!!!).
Over the 10 years I was running my design firm there was a shift from tables and animated GIFs to div's and Flash. CSS has also played a major part in giving designers more flexibility in controlling the look and placement of content in the layout.
However, using these things is different to understanding them and I think that's the fundamental difference here. If someone wants to design a simple site without having to understand how it's achieved in code, then you've got to recommend something that fits the bill.
Equally, there's nothing wrong with the advice that such products don't create technically good sites and may lead to additional work in the future to re-work any such creations.
Sorry, that was a long winded way of saying Chillax ... lol
Cheers,
Shaun
