I know this is a sort of electric cafe question but we all use email so I'd like to get your thoughts. My yahoo account has been very good a couple of years but (inevitably) the spammers have caught up with it so I'm thinking of getting a new one and I'm not bothered about whether it's yahoo or not - so which web email accounts do you think are best?

cheers!

I use yahoo and their anti spam thingy works really well, just send the first few spams from a certain spammer to spam and it will keep it going no problem for you, mine still isn't clogged up after about 7 years.

The way forward is different accounts. I have a bog standard yahoo account which I use the e mail address for any shopping accounts etc or where registration on any sites are needed and then use a BT yahoo account for anything personal.

Works a treat

And it did for me, as well. I had three. One 'real' and two staged 'dump' addresses. Until someone found my real one...

GMail. There's no need for different accounts. GMail ignores . in the local part of email addresses. So for example, john.doe@gmail.com would be delivered to the same place as johndoe@gmail.com

You can therefore use the same account when signing up for shopping sites, newsletters, something you're a bit wary of etc. by simply putting dots into appropriate places, and filtering emails sent to those addresses into specific folders as necessary.

Gmail here too. I also use it to collect from the various other email addresses I have acquired over the years. I have 3 gmail accounts, 2 collecting old email addresses and forwarding to the 3rd. The 3rd also collects from old email addresses but it's my collection point.

I've tried using IMAP but it just falls over with the weight of old emails I have! So I'm stuck with POP, which is fine for my purposes.

Just to let anyone who's intressted - using mail.com allows you to have a variety of email tags, and one of them is ----(at)bikerider,com
I use a couple of email accounts. Mail.com isn't the best but it's pretty good. And not much spam to be fair. So if you fancy the bikerider.com moniker, give it a whirl.
