Best wine you've had?

Best in classic terms was a Ch. Lafite 1963. At that age it's a gamble, especially as it had just been sitting in a wine-rack in a dining-room, but it was very, very good.

Best in my own much more humble wine-rack are the last couple of bottles of Ch. Trimoulet 2001.

Always buy from here Greedo - it is the highlight of the afternoon! (Apart from the Eschezeaux samples ) I'm no connoisu you know what I mean.
We all cart back trolleys from the Salon - +/- 36 bottles each of whatever we fancy. I always try for very localised stuff along with the 'standards'.
Vosne Romanee from here only. - smashing people. (It used to be just Anne-Marie Gilles, with the cheeky smile but...)
Above all, the Salon is a great way to taste wine, champagne, Armagnac etc etc - all for 6 €
Oh, and I have started buying Pouilly Fumé too. To me it is white wine.

In answer to the OP, I would say the 'best' wine I have tasted was Henschke Hill of Grace, either the 1999 or 2004 but too close to call.

Both tasted on the same evening in the company of good friends and good food The other vintages weren't bad either

Cool. I actually thought Romanee Conti when I first read your post. That's why I was wondering why you were drinking it so young!

I no longer drink but when I did, I did love a glass of Montrachet, they do red and white, oh boy it was lovely. Around £60 a bottle in a restaurant but you can buy it for about £25 a bottle in an off licence ( if you can find it that is, as I used to find it hard to source )

Some crackers mentioned already. My faves, largely based on a combination of the wine and the circumstances:

Mas de Daumas Gassac - classed as "vins de pays" non-AOC, but possibly the languedoc's finest

Vega Sicilia Valbuena - a second wine, but fantastic nonetheless; a gift to my sister-in-law from Santiago Calatrava
