Better late than never?

I started a new job in August. Since then my colleagues have quietly been given a present of gift vouchers from the company on their birthday.

My birthday in December came and went without mention. So I figured that perhaps you don't get anything in your first year, but then someone who joined after me got his present. OK, so either I've been forgotten or my work is so bad that I don't deserve them.

Yesterday our office manager delivered my birthday vouchers, over three months late. Is it ungrateful of me to think that it's a bit late now?

I have never worked for a company who gave they're employees anything for they're birthday, so you are lucky to get anything even, if it is late. It was probably an error regarding your date of birth. Accept it in the spirit they were given and be grateful you received anything from your employer.

This seems weird, being offended that an organisation forgot your birthday. They aren't your husband, or your mum. It doesn't prove they don't love you (hint: they don't love you).

(gift vouchers are kind of wonderful. I remember £100 thank you from a company. If they'd have put it in my pay, I would never have noticed; but having to go to HMV -it was a few years ago - and get piles of DVD and CDs was fun)

@annedonnelly if it is an admin error on your DoB get it fixed & you get 2 lots of vouchers in the same year as well as getting to retire on time

The convention in our place is that the birthday-ee brings cakes in for the office rather than getting anything out of the place.

No, they've got my birthdate correct - it's written on the envelope. Yes, obviously an admin error but a bit hurtful when everyone else was getting theirs.
