Better value for money than you thought ?

I spent out on a Henry Vacuum cleaner in the mid 80s, had it serviced for £14 somewhere around 2005 and it's still going strong. I think that vacuum has been better value than I ever imagined.

Shimano MW7 winter boots. Fabulous. Keep my feet dry and warm. Get home and I just hose the mud off and a quick wipe. Brilliant. Why dId I never buy these earlier.

I dunno. Other than ski goggles I've not seen any point in sunglasses. I am rather pleased with my 99 new pence reading glasses even if the £2.99 ones were slightly nicer I'm not convinced they're any better and less robust if anything.

Unless they have a quality UV filter all you are doing is opening up your cornea to do more damage from the UV.

Umm, I don't wear sunglasses but am talking about proper glasses.

And anything made of actual glass will stop uv regardless. Plastic maybe not, in which case maybe something in your point for sunglasses

My 99p reading glasses are great I'll have you know. Those £7.99 ones in waterstones are overpiced and jot as good. I'm no skinflint and paid £20 for one pair, and have had some crap 99p ones too, but current ones are great.

I bought them before I went travelling, and I splashed out, knowing I would be pretty much living in them for the next year or so. I can't remember the maker, tho' I do know they were Italian, and they cost something like twice the going rate. I did end up living in them for a year, including a *lot* of walking, and I've worn them every winter since. The soles came off (or nearly) a few years ago, and I stuck them back with some kind of special shoe-gloe - they've been fine since. Super-comfortable, totally waterproof, and underneath the mud not that different from when I bought them, over 30 years ago. I call that value for money.

Shoes from Oliver Sweeney. I bought a pair in the sale and they are comfiest I have ever worn. As my dad used to say "Buy the best shoes and best bed you can afford because if you're not in one you're usually in the other"

Also I has a Mont Blanc pen bought for me for my 30th birthday. Still going strong nearly 25 years later.
