Bettini confirms retirement

Its all been a bit up in the air recently, originally he stated that he would retire after the Worlds only to hint at 1 more year. Quickstep declined his request for another year but it was likely financial with rumours circulating that Paolo wanted big bucks. Just last week he was being linked with a new Team being formed only for the news to be broken today that the Road Race on Sunday will indeed be his final professional race.

I hope that he can settle growing olives and hope he has a peaceful retirement will miss seeing him in the peloton.

I hope he can go out on a high and at least make the podium on Sunday. No doubt the harsh reality shown towards him by Quick Step sealed his fate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I liked him. He was a real genuine rider. (Unless of course something comes out at a later date!)
