The I always wear a helmet when handling flapjack triangles, as my mother and all my teachers used to say don't run with flapjacks.

It seems silly to a portion blame. (Look, Chris, we are supposed to be  this thread - not playing it!)
Why are said nourriture called 'flapjacks' anyway? Do 'flapjills' exist?
If you want to be a bit more fashionably metrosexual, just call them "granola bars" like Zimmers does.

(a) It's a gross overreaction (b) replacing three sharp corners with four is an epic fail of risk mitigation. 30% more dangerous in fact.
No it is not.

It is exactly this sort of beaurocratic bollocks that should be challenged and stopped, and the faceless twunts who revel in it with their smugness should be on their way to the job centre......

I think he meant the banning was a gross over reaction, didn't he? IE, he was agreeing with you?

Surely a weaponised flapjack such as this has been overbaked? Such an item would inflict whatever injury it's going to cause regardless of shape. I don't think the proper testing has been carried out. Obviously, this needs to be conducted by the right people at the correct location. I'm sure they can get some Army chefs to whip up a batch, get some artillery men to test them on Salisbury Plain....

Speaking as someone who has some experience of catering ballistics, having been badly hurt by a flying frozen tomato - and believe me that hurt - I think the fact that the school, once a comprehensive, is now a ''science college'' should reassure us that the decision was made after extensive empirical research, carried out selflessly by students willing to give up their own lunchtimes in the pursuit of scientific knowledge. It's just a storm in a teacake.

As it is probably the 3 points of the triangle which are dangerous, making them square, now gives them 4 points so much more dangerous.

But are four points more dangerous than three points? Consider the angles at the corners. Triangular - 60 degrees. Square - 90 degrees.

There again you are more likely to be hit by a corner on a square shaped piece than by a corner on a triangular shaped piece.

Is the increased likelihood of a corner strike from a square shape ameliorated by the decreased 'sharpness of its corners?

Anyone prepared to conduct some research?
