Just been playing with me Christmas pressie to me - a pair of ebay Mission 773s - and they bring a big smile to my face. But there's reference in the manual to bi-wiring....which I could do, at some quite considerable effort. Would it be worth that effort? Would I actually notice any difference?

I have a set of Mission 751s in the cupboard under the stairs lovely speakers very punchy for their size. I should sell them to be honest but the veneer is badly scratched and I would not make their real value if I did. Shame as they have nothing wrong with them other than that. I noticed sod all when I bi-wired them myself. I imagine crossover design may play a part depending on the speakers, though that's nothing more than a guess. Rocking a pair of Leak Sandwitch speakers at the moment. Weird name but very nice in a pipe and slippers way.

When I've done it I've noticed an improvement.
Milo, I've had a few leak Stereo 30's before but never a pair of Sandwiches to partner with them!

Kind of half looking out for a stereo 30 they come up fairly cheap from time to time. I should really get my Sansui valve receiver fixed it would work far better with them than my cheap Cambridge audio amp I imagine.

I reckon most the time they just put extra inputs on to make you feel good. I doubt there are many speakers were the crossover design actually means there 'might' be a noticeable difference.

Whilst bi-amping could conceivably make a difference - whether or not it's worth the expense is another matter, but bi-wiring will only make it difference if the known laws of physics are wrong - and I don't know of any hi-fi engineers getting invitations to Stokholm for their prizes. To be fair, hi fi ENGINEERS will know it's bunk. To be even more fair, if your cable is a bit on the thin side, then doubling up may help, but that's a slightly different question.

As some context, I did used to be a bit of a hi-fi geek, though avoided the extremes and though a bit of a linn-o-phile in my day am now all digital. There are some bargains on fleabay though, now being the proud owner of some £3k kefs bought for £500 - wow, they're good !
