Whilst sat in my car in traffic this lunchtime, I looked in the rear view mirror and saw a long line of cyclists using the footpath to get ahead of the traffic Que I was sat in. Upon pulling alongside me it was very obvious that this was an organised ride, but was like a team sponsored by Bianchi, as almost all the bikes were the same pale green livery, and even a couple of vintage Bianchi rides, and almost all the cyclists were wearing Bianchi colors, but these cyclists who were of both sexes, were not pro's, as some of them were the same age and shape as me.

So were these some very upwardly mobile Cheshire cyclists, or was it a sponsored event of some description. I was however very impressed with the bikes.

Bianchi club ride? i know there is such things for older cars, motorbikes and even tractors
many of the members treat there bianchi or triumph and massey etc as there pride and joy and i wouldn't be surprised if many are dressed up to suit
Cheers Ed

I have always liked the Bianchi clothing. Would never buy any of it without owning such a bike though. Bought myself a Bianchi Sempre Pro recently...and was just shopping for the gear before heading over here.

Shame the ride was too far for me. Would certainly turn up for such a run. Kinda cool I reckon.

I was on that ride. It was a Bianchi I-ride supported by the company. 18 of us, some in a special kit for the ride. Ages from 14 to 64 (me). We started from Newcastle under Lyme and went up though Stoke to Mow Cop (walking, in my case) and then on to a new Bianchi dealership in Crewe where the support vehicle delivered Pantani's 1995 climbing bike on loan for their opening. We came back via Keele. 45 miles and 800m of ascent. Pace was rapid (to me anyway) and the companionship and support excellent.

This is the ride as recorded by my geo-tracker.

Thanks for your interest. No you were not dreaming, you did see 18 Bianchi's on the streets of Crewe yesterday, including two retro Marco Pantani era Bianchis. Bianchi Owners Club UK put on an owners ride yesterday, starting in Newcastle-under-Lyme, taking in the lanes of Cheshire, before returning to Newcastle. The event was supported by Bianchi UK, you may have seen their Bianchi van in the traffic, and organised by us. Bianchi Owners Club UK hold 4 official rides per year across the UK. This weekend attracted riders from across the country all eager to share their love of Italian Bianchi's. We called in to the new Bianchi Dealer, Global Bikes, in Rainbow Street, Crewe, for refreshments. If you want to find out more visit us on Facebook at Bianchi Owners Club UK. Thanks for noticing us. Regards. BOCUK.

Glad you own a Sempre. Feel free to check Bianchi Owners Club UK out on facebook. See you in the future maybe. Thanks. BOCUK.

There's an 80 year old bloke i know well. He has a hardly ridden Bianchi(Campag' not Shimano gears etc) but he insists on keeping it after many offers from me to buy it. Even though he doesn't cycle anymore! Is that fair i ask?
