Excellent object lesson, albeit it's telling us something we (the converted) already know! I dread to think what my bus journey to work (2 miles by bike each way) would be like, seeing as I've never tried it: all I know is it would need a change of bus en route, and possibly I'd have to buy two tickets each way (not sure about this last).
Just to throw in an 'ageist' comment, sorry! I'd really like to see a similar cartoon drawn up, but with a somewhat more - er - 'mature' protagonist! Just to prove that we of my age group (approaching 60) can also do it!

Aye, a nice little study that. With transport costs so high down our way I'm sure I save a packet in bus fares.........

To the old office it took an hour to drive (in school term time), hour and a half on a bus (according to time table)...not sure about the train. But it was an hour and 10 minutes to cycle.
But either way it'd of cost me about £6 to get there (not a return).
