Edit 1989

Found this thought Id share as I havnt seen it before

A decent frame cost £600 and a decent bike £2000, the only British company still making bike components was Brooks saddles, cycling in the UK was seen as cranky though on the continent romantic and heroic

Nothings changed then

It's a bit more complicated than that...
Wasn't Sturmey Archer still British in 1989? And to me in 1989 (and most of my fellow undergraduates) cycling was just a way of getting to lectures. There were a few eccentrics who belonged to something called the "Road club", but they really were cranky.

I like the way the frame builders for Condor weld the frame, so its correct

Though Raleigh cold set it afterwards, even on the top end frames

I know who Id rather have a frame from back in the day

I moved away from a motorbike and back to cycling in 1979, similar reason though, new girlfriend, getting serious about her and wanting to buy a house, I was living in a bedsit at the time.
