Pretty damn stiff headwind on the way in to work yesterday and today, adding an extra 5 minutes to my average time.

OTOH - a fantastic tailwind on the way home last night meant I was flying along. Despite being held up in traffic a few times (no way past safely), I managed to cover the 10 miles in 29.00 exactly. I was chuffed to bits.

As I went out with the club straight after work, I think I had the wind behind where usualy it had been in my face heading home.

Not as strong a tailwind as the headwind was this morning, but still decent enough. Sadly, got stuck first behind a double-decker bus with no way past until it pulled in, then behind one of those disabled minibuses - again no way past it for quite a while until the road widened.

So I only 30 mins 10 secs tonight ;)

If I have to get a head wind on the commute, I'd rather have it on the way home as most of its downhill.

I don't know what it is about winds somedays I can plough through stronger winds, yet other days its like hitting a brick wall?

For me, it's usually dependent on how knackered I am when I crawl out of bed and get on the bike, or how knackered I am at the end of a long day at work.

Then there's the end-of-the-week factor - on a Friday riding home, I somehow always find hidden reserves of energy to power me there much quicker !!
