Yes, I made a bit of a hash of that, and it seems I can't edit it.
It doesn't matter. I've asked on two seperate forums, and I haven't heard one adult say they'd want to live with students.
Maillard of Joy remains home for at least another three years.
I'd also go for keep the boat, and I was a mature student for the last ten years. I didn't go into halls exactly when I moved to York, I got a room in a big university flat - 11 bedrooms, with a mix of mature and young students. Three of us mature ones moved out after one term - it wasn't actually a loud music issue, it was because one of them turned out to be psychopathic, and the young lads though he was fun and a good role model. The other mature guy turned out to be an alcoholic who liked to come into a room where people were gathered, shut the door and sit against it while talking loudly about being a "raging Scottish homosexual". After that I lived in shared houses, always with mature students. Even that's not always ideal though, you are friends at first and it all seems lovely, then you start to get a niggle about washing up or hair in the sink or something, and everything can go very sour.
A couple of us did share a house later, when I was a postgrad, with someone who'd been an 18 year old in our undergrad year - but he was a mature lad for his age, and by then we were all a stage further on and knew each other well - I'm still friends with him (Hello! if you read this...).
Having lived alone now for three years, I can't imagine giving up my own little space to lived communally. Share with a significant other, yes, but not in any kind of house share - even with older people I think.
