You've to find someone with a key first!
And with the limited movement available, I can say they're heavy(I'll take the scale the next time), often have flats, which you'd be required to repair first and the gears are crunchy
Assuming you eventually manage to find someone to hire the bike from; do you need to find someone to RETURN the key to at the end of the hire period too? Presumably if you can't find anyone then your hire continues until you DO find someone. Maybe they aren't so daft after all.

There's a seperate lock that runs through all ten bikes. That's the one you need someone to open for you.

In Rochdale the bikes appear to have just got up & gone. They only have three remaining, from the ten they started with.

If they(Northern Rail) could be bothered trying to run it, it might actually get going.
As it is, they don't seem to want to do anything. Despite it being a partner company that's behind it.
