I'm new here... hopefully some of you have come across this situation before.

I had a crash last week - driver's fault - which has resulted in an injury to my shoulder which is going to take some time to heal. Now that's sort of dealt with I've turned my attention to my bike (trek 1000 wsd from 5/6 yrs ago). Took it to the lbs today for a quote on repair and basically the frame and fork are both bent and they can't replace. They have suggested a Trek 1.5 as the closest equivalent.

I'm going to ask my solicitor about this, but I was wanting to buy a new road bike in the next year or so, something around the £1500 mark. I'm thinking of taking advantage of the opportunity here and replace/upgrade at the same time. Been looking at the Madone 3.1 as a possibility. I assume I'm not restricted to Trek bikes, but that looks like a decent upgrade.

Mainly I want a bike for weekend rides and training - I do triathlons (well, up until last week), but I don't want a tri-specific bike. Something maybe on the racier side rather than comfort.

Any thoughts?

If your current one is women specific, do you want another WSD?
