Hi,

I'm on the lookout for a bike holder for my Nokia Lumia 1520 so I can use sat nav etc. Obviously I would need it to be a case that is waterproof due to the great british weather. I've searched high and low on the neet and cant see anything suitable.

Any ideas?

See what you mean.

There's this http://www.holdersandmounts.co.uk/f...520-bike-handlebar-mount-motorbike-mount.html
Which maybe you could combine with something like this http://store.wpcentral.com/aquapac-handheld-case/4A104A593.htm

I've just got a 1020 but I use a dedicated old Gamin for navigation.

Ive found this... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Rainproof...9397?pt=UK_Holders_Mounts&hash=item258ae14675 which looks promising , its from Hong Kong , so god knows what the quality is going to be like. Says touch screen can be used when its in the case so hopefully that would be true.

I'd be sure to have comprehensive insurance if using any type of handlebar mount. TBH I've never fancied hanging any of my phones on the bars, in fact the very thought of putting several hundred pounds worth of phone in a £10 ebay Hong Kong case with a cheapo plastic bracket makes me go

Anyway, Lumia battery life is as poor as any other smart phone IME, and using Nokia maps will slaughter your battery life, that's why I gave up on phone based mapping and got a Garmin, never looked back. It's a dedicated gadget with a dedicated mount that won't see the unit fly off down the road in the event of an off.

My phone stays in my pocket now purely for music/emergency calls. Not saying it wouldn't get damaged if I had an off, but at least it won't go skidding down the road and under the wheels of any traffic.

Normally id agree with battery life but mine is the 1520 model and it has a 3400mah battery. I get at least 2 days of normal use and if I nurse it can get 3 days. Even when I hammer the phone I still get a day and a half. I do see what your saying though about putting an expensive phone in a cheap case. I may look into a dedicated gps system.
