Mountain bike is usually a bit grubby but gets hosed down after a muddy ride. CX/Winter bike gets washed after a salty road ride. Road bike gets washed after any dirt touches it then polished with ground Chilean walnut shells and buffed with a cloth made from the hair of a virgin alpaca.

Foss, I know it's not a good state of affairs. Although in my defence, I do clean and look after the chains and keep that well oiled as well as tyres etc. I would like to get into the habit of giving them an overall clean up properly like I used to. The fleet of bikes don't get all the parts replaced due to lack of funds (and having options means that I can always use another bike even if it's got a slightly too long reach etc etc) - however, got to swap the stem on the steel frame, regrease the bearings on the track bike but all the parts are here and it just needs to be done. There are a couple of sets of tyres as spares (not into changing things for the whim of it- waiting until current tyres really wear out- might turn them into belts when that happens!) Jed is back from the LBS no 2 (My friend is mechanic there- I used to live a few streets away) and he is a very happy bike. He was riding very happily on the way home.

Glad the bike is back.

I don't change bits on my bikes (only consumables). I only have one bike that's new ish. The others are about 20 years old. Only the MTB has had a few upgraded second hand 'period' bits - i.e ebay.

I am OCD on bike stuff though !

PS I was joking about the comment !!

Clean and lube my chain every week when commuting on the Ribble (haven't been commuting in about 6 weeks though, so she's looking sad) and take her apart once a month for a full clean.

...My ratbike on the other hand is just in a state
