having spent some time digging through some old online claud butler catalogues, i have found out that what i thought was a '62 holdsworth claud butler is actually a 1949-55 claud butler olympic sprint. the bike was re-enamelled in the '60s, which is why the seat tube has a holdsworth cb badge. other details like the presence of a ferrule on the valve hole on the sprint rims places them as 1950s, not 1960s.

as original clauds (as opposed to bikes badged as cd but made by others) are very collectable, i'm well chuffed.

'twas the lugs that gave it away, holdsworth used different ones to the claud butler built bikes, and these lugs feature in all claud butler's catalogues between '49 and '55.

edit: further research on the frame number has pinned the bike down to being ordered in january 1951, from the attached catalogue.
