I am looking for a bike shed to store 2 bikes in. I want it to be metal and have quite a good locking system as its going to be in back garden. Anyone have any good comments to make on metal bike sheds maybe some recommendations, budget £400-£500. Cheers for help

personally I'd have a wood shed, as our metal one is awful (exclusively a hay store).

If you lay a slab down you can set some loops in it to lock the bikes to so its secure but will look better and be stronger, if you have a chopsaw/battery drill it should be easy to put one up in a weekend, we built a double skinned kennel in a weekend and thats bigger than a shed + had electric and was part painted during construction

A wooden shed should have less condensation then a metal one. The shed itself isn't your real defense, it is just weather proofing and for keeping out of sight.

For anchors you could get one of these from B&Q and screw it into the ground under the slabs with just the rings showing. See also this thread.

Place any anchor between the bikes and a solid wall of the shed, or the side of the shed that is against a solid wall, so that it is harder to get at.

If you go for a bolt down anchor go for this type so the chain cannot be slipped out with the removal of one bolt.

It is better then the open type of anchor like this.

If you are bolting down onto slabs try to use pavement slabs and not garden slabs. The pavement ones are thicker, bigger ad tougher then the garden ones that are as tough as a cream cracker. Otherwise pour some concrete to secure the anchor under the wooden floor.

It's a nice looking steel box, galvanised too. I would be tempted to line the insides with something soft like vynal flooring or carpet just to stop noise and scuffs.

I reckon I could open that door in about 10 seconds though. Make sure you have a good ground anchor inside to make the bikes harder to get out.
