Been looking at bike stands.
Some have a quick release jobby to hold the bike, others a screw gizmo.
My bike's steel.
Which is best do you think?

My Park Tool stand is very robust indeed and works fine with quick release. If you're asking which will cope with the weight of your bike, then I would say either option would be fine, depending on how well the actual stand is made.

I got the Lidl one on special at £25.

It had a qick release clamp and held my mountain bike securely while trying to remove the bottom bracket!.

Works a treat (round aluminium frame).

My Aldi One is like the one @keithmac got from Lidl, only with orange fittings instead of blue. Nice having quick releases, actually. My previous one did not, and the Aldi one was $40 US. I use the Park Tool ones at our co-op, can't say as they are much better, dollar for dollar. I would say that having a quick release makes it a lot easier when you need to take the bike off the stand, but if you have a lot of bikes, it may be a bit more of a faff due to always having to adjust the quick release. That being said, I have 2 bicycles with the the same top tube measurements, as they are both closely related models from the same time period, and another has the same size top tube as they do. Still easier than the screw jobbie, while also trying to hold the bike.

Mines the screw on bracket, but not an issue as it holds all my bikes securely when settling/cleaning. If I was a bike mechanic then quick release would be better

Aldi has been in the Midwest, esp. Saurkraut Belt of Central Illinois, since the 70's. First store in Iowa in 1976, and headquartered in Batavia, Illinois. I think the stores in the Peoria area must have been soon after. I remember taking my aunt to one in the mid-70's. Quite a few Aldi's here now, many more than used to be. Lidl may beat Aldi's to you though, I hear they are making a big move on the Eastern Seaboard, they opened a warehouse and several locations around tidewater Virginia, and seem to be rolling out from there.

I have a park tools pcs 10 that has a cam on the clamp to give it quick release capability, but it can be operated in a non-quick release manner too. I rarely use the quick release as its hardly any quicker and needs to be adjusted if clamping on different diameters. Brilliant stand though.

They also trade as Trader Joe's in the US.
