Hi all
After having my bike serviced at two separate bike shops i am not convinced that they actually know what they are doing:headshake: or dont give a shoot  so i am looking to purchase a tool kit set to do my own servicing can anyone advise me on a decent kit without going overboard on price or one that breaks the first time its used.

cheers

I tend to buy my tools separately rather than a full kit. I don't know if this is cheaper or more expensive but you can be a bit more selective and buy them as and when you need them. I would suggest:

A good pump to carry on the bike and a good track pump for home use.
Tyre levers (3)
Puncture repair kit.
Multitool allen keys or individual allen keys (2mm to 8mm)
Chain link tool
Crank extractor
BB Tool
Cassette or freewheel tool
Chain whip
Spoke tool
needle nose pliers
Adjustable spanner
Open ended spanners
Pedal spanner
Pair of cone spanners
Pair of strong cable cutters

A bike stand? I don't (yet) have one, but I believe it would be pretty essential to allow you to properly fettle!! Apparently Lidl do a good one for a fair price!

Decided to buy as i go simply because i have a lot of tools anyway (from my vehicle restoration days) and can buy any specialist tools as i need them.
One good bit of news, after having the bike in on two separate occasions at two different bike shops for servicing i was still not happy with the rear cassette which kept jumping gears so i looked in the haynes manual and reset the rear deraillier as per instructions and hey presto sweet as a nut.
Well chuffed with myself
