Bike workstand

Having read a number of threads about the lack of frequent maintenance being a key determinant in the life of components, I've realised that my occasional liberal dousing with GT85 and chain lube is clearly falling well short of what my bikes deserve.

Can you recommend me a good folding work stand that won't break the bank in order to make maintenance easier?

Pretty sure this is the one I have. I clamp the bike on the seat post though and not the frame as in the picture

Looks identical to the Decathlon one I bought, only cheaper.

Mine does the job although is a screw clamp not a QR one which was a pain until I got used to it.

eBay mine came from- can't link as I'm at work- but if you imagine the above two stands and write 'ebay' on the top you get the gist. £30, same as above, love mine, perfect for weekly cleaning and general maintenance, well worth investing.

The Aldi/Lidl/Amazon ones are OK, but it is worth spending more and getting one of these http://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/pp/road-track-bike/workstands/work also sold under other brand names - RSP, Revolution, BBB etc, sometimes for over twice the price. A really firm, sturdy stand.

It's not a folding stand as such, but only needs 4 bolts to be loosened to take the 2 front legs off, and the rest of it then folds flat. It's a tough old thing too, - tough enough to use to work on my electric bike, which is a heavy lump!

Yes - the Bike Tool one is the one I was recommending (lost a bit of the link in cutting and pasting?). The box mine was delivered in actually had 'Raleigh' printed on it, sold by Ribble as 'Bike Tool'. I then bought a tool tray for it from EBC.

Mine just says Bike Hand on it IIRC, can't remember how it was boxed TBH as it was too long ago

I thought the 'Raleigh' labelling a bit odd at the time, but then after a bit of research online realised that exactly the same stand was sold under numerous brand names at very different prices. The only other difference between them seemed to be whether or not they came with a tooltray!

however - if you just want a stand for storage - or to raise the wheel 2'' for regular chain cleaning/lube and /or front and rear mech adjustment

this is ideal at £9.95 delivered.....not a workshop stand but adequate for transmission jobs

I now use the Lidl one - similar to (same as?) the Anazon and Aldi ones. Fantastic value and I haven't needed anything better since I got it - I do all my own maintenance. Only other stand I have is a wheel truing one as you really can't do wheels without a specialised one of those.
