You are the Weakest Link ... good bike

WEAKEST Link host Anne Robinson had to get on her bike yesterday – after being handed a six-month driving ban for speeding.

The acid-tongued quiz show presenter, 63, was snapped doing 43mph in a 30mph zone, the FOURTH time she has been nabbed in two years.
Anne – known for her “You are the Weakest Link, goodbye” put-down – was yesterday spotted cycling in sunglasses, close to her home in Kensington, West London.
She was nabbed speeding in her Audi A3 Quattro in Portsmouth, Hants, on August 8 last year.
Anne admitted the charge and was given the automatic ban due to previous offences. Portsmouth JPs also fined her £100, plus £35 court costs.
The presenter had been in the city after attending the Cowes Week yachting festival on the Isle of Wight.

A lawyer for Anne – who did not attend court – said that the star had got lost after driving off the ferry.
Michael McGoldrick told the court the star had never visited Portsmouth before and failed to spot the speed camera as she attempted to find signs for the A3 towards London.
He said: “It is a speed camera that quite often catches people out.
“She appreciates she exceeded the speed limit and accepts liability and apologises to the court.”

JPs heard that Anne – who has previously been caught speeding in September 2005, March 2006 and June 2007 – drives between 45,000 and 55,000 miles a year.
Chairman of the panel Peter Mellor endorsed her licence with four penalty points. It took Anne’s total to 13 – one above the 12-point limit which leads to a “totting up” ban.
Mr Mellor said: “She becomes a ‘totter’ and we are obliged to ban her for six months. I’m sorry she will not have a more pleasant memory of her first visit to Portsmouth.”

Speeding car drivers seem to miss the point, it is not that they failed to spot te camera it is that they failed to spot the speed limit!

I cannot see how being lost is an excuse or even a reason for driving fast.

If you have not seen a big round sign and not seen a big bright yellow box then a ban is the right thing for you. Shame she was allowed back in a car three times before.
