As twowheelsgood says, it's in the picture. I don't think it's a strange choice. The Pompino has tons of tyre clearance and also rack and mudguard mounts - it's the opposite of a fashion fixed. He's almost certainly running it SS too.

I wonder if that's his Ironic Orange Julius Bike?

1. It's a tendy marque
2. It has a silly name
3. It only has one gear (unless it has hub gears)
4. It has wacky handlebars
5. It's made of steel

So his article moans about fixie fashionistas but he's buying into it a bit himself. What's wrong with gears? What's wrong with aluminium? It's not as if it's an eminently sensible commuting bike like Edinburgh Cycle Coop's Revolution Courier. He criticizes Dutch roadsters as being the equivalent of SUVs, but they are more sensible bikes for commuting. At least his bike has two brakes and mudguards.

Not that Bikesnob needs my help defending himself, but:

1. I doubt many people have heard of On One in NY.
2. I agree.
3. True, though we can't tell how his is set up.
4. Those are moustache bars which are quite practical. Hardly a hipster affectation like dildo bars or BMX risers.
5. Cheap steel bikes are generally nicer to ride than cheap aluminium bikes, and the Pompino frame is a nice one.

The article is just taking soundbites from the blog which really is very carefully and intelligently written.
