.. and there's a wee kerfuffle in the corner .. just some of the forwards getting to know each other again ..

What a legend. Really brought the game of Rugby to life.

That's so sad the guy's a true "legend" - he was equally enthusiastic for both teams competing and a consummate professional to boot. ;)

Commiserations to his family and friends.

THE great of rugby commentating.

I believe that, due to his recognised impartiality, he was the first rugby commentator who was allowed to commentate on his own nation's matches.

I remember Billy Beaumont having to change his shorts - back to the camera, wearing an athletic support but no knickers. 'A wonderful pairrr of buttocks - a stirrring sight'.

Here for rides.
not a trace of side to his commentary, even when his son-in-law scored a try for Scotland. The tragedy of a playing career cut short by TB was a gift to so many of us.

Great stuff, Greg.

He was a true gent and an iconic voice from my youth along with Eddie Waring and Peter O'Sullivan.

Laurence Dallaglio offered his own McLaren memory this morning. On Erica Roe - 'I'm not sure which side that lad's playing for....'
