I tip the binmen a tenner at xmas, just because they do a valuable and under-appreciated job.

I've just done a kitchen refit, and the old worktops (one 3-metre length, one two-metre) plus the old sink and assorted junk were outside. I was about to phone the council to arrange collection when the normal binmen service arrived and cleared the lot!

...and you will be there next week with 'appreciative gifts' Ben. That's nice nature on their part isn't it?

I tipped a bloke earlier who asked me for 50p....Was I right to do this?....On the borders of Leyton - Walthamstow. He went away happy and I got rid of a pain in the bum.

Our binmen got a card with some cash in at Christmas, I was intending to do it anyway as that's what my Mum has always done but my mind was made up as the couple times we've forgotten to take out bin out to the road they've come up the garden and fetched it anyway.

I think that they do an excellent job. I have always tipped them too. When we moved house nine years ago, the new bin men came up to me and said,, the binmen from our old house, passed on a message to say they were to look after me!!

I used to want to be a binman when they were employed directly by the council but wasn't old enough in time.
