No. Absolutely not. Your surveyor doesn't know what he is talking about. There is no need for separate extraction from bathrooms and kitchen (indeed, it would be counter-productive). Effectively what has happened is that high-volume short-run extraction has been replaced by a system of continuous low-volume extraction, and it is fully covered by the guidance to the Building Regs.

Smash the cistern
Thanks Mike, that's what I thought would be the case. There's no point extracting all that lovely warm air without passing it through the heat exchanger.
