I wouldn't normally do this sort of thing, but:

Message from the Birmingham Cyclist Forum:

Hi there,

I hope it's OK to use this forum. I'm a freelance journalist working with scientists at Kings College London on a project for the health pages of the Daily Mail about air pollution.

We are going to send six people out for the day carrying portable pollution monitors which record the levels of gas and fine particles in the air, to get a picture of how much pollution they are being exposed to.

I'd like to include someone who cycles to work and back and I thought Birmingham might be an interesting location to do this as the second largest city in the UK. I'd like to hear only from people who cycle for at least 90 minutes each day and whose routes include major roads.

To take part, we'd send you the monitor by special delivery and you'd need to simply go about your day as normal, carrying the monitor with you in a bag or pocket at all times. Then we'd arrange for the monitor to be sent back to Kings College the next morning for your results to be analysed.

I would carry out a short phone interview with you just to get a picture of who you are and to talk generally about concerns about air pollution, and then another short interview after we've got your results to get a bit of reaction. I'd be happy to send you your quotes to check before going to print.

We'd also want to photograph you, ideally at our studio in Kensington, London (we can cover travel expenses).

I'm flexible about gender and age so please do get in touch if you're interested in taking part or just want to find out more.

Email me at chloe.h.lambert@gmail.com with a contact number and a bit about you and I'll contact you.

Kind regards

Chloe Lambert

Looking at a handful of articles, she seems to be the only writer in the Daily Mail who doesn't turn health issues into sensationalism, putting women down, and attacking the NHS for fun.

Anyone on here fit the 90 minutes per day category?

Anyone who agrees to be interviewed by the Mail for a piece on cycling needs their head checked.

I HAVE checked this journalist's articles out, and whilst I would normally agree with you, this time I don't.

A knee-jerk reaction to the Daily Mail is only sinking to their level.
