Spotted this story on the BBC website about the call to identify workers on the spaghetti junction from a photo taken in 1972, they were successful in identifying all the workers after messages came in from all over the world. Many interesting stories emerged from this together with many more photographs, these have been put together for an exhibition in the city.

Anyway there are some great pictures, look away health and safety peoples, my favourite is Fabian Cowan working away at height in a tweed jacket with a bent nail instead of a button to keep it closed. Marvellous.

I worked in the early 70s with gangs of Irishmen on many construction projects - their old suits, and tweed waistcoats and hats were almost a uniform for them - a "Grand" group of men - hard working - but always up for a bit of mischief and the Craic

look away health and safety peoples,

Sadly I know of too many instances in those years where the attitude at that time led to deaths and serious injuries
