The new bank that is opening is one I know little about, Metro Bank. I suppose they are trying to win custom from people disgruntled with the closure of so many of the "mainstream bank" branches.

We used to have several banks - the Nat West closed a week or so ago

Santander is still there

There was another but it was up a side bit and all the shops up there have closed so I presume it has as well - never actually go that way - as all the shops are closed

In the town where my wife comes from the Halifax has also recently closed - NatWest is the last left

After the closure, over the past few years, of the 5 banks in our town, there's now a 'Banking Hub', presumably shared by how-ever-many banks



There was;
TSB (now a clothing bank)
Yorkshire (empty)
Midland ('Bankers Draught' bar)
Barclays (apartments)
Halifax (closed in March)

I am sat in my original bank branch in Dumbarton currently (Bank Of Scotland and the old 'British Linen Company Bank').

Ok, It's now a bar and restaurant called (imaginatively) the 'Counting House', but it also sits opposite the old TSB (now closed but due to become a Hair Dressers apparently... What was that about barbers and banks being a front for Criminals? @wafter?).

The frontage reads

'The Savings Bank Of Glasgow
Dumbarton Branch'

Have a quick squint at their exciting recent history and make sure you give 'em no more than the Banking Protection Limit of £85K would be my strong suggestion.
