Haven't read through the entire thread so apologies if this is already in but I used to regularly pass a place that never failed to make me laugh. In Consett, Co Durham, there is a Fanny Bush Lane.

When we have Americans friends to stay, they love to hear about the origins of our street and place names. Many are obvious, such as Church Hill, but they're amazed at how many commemorate people and events in our history. We have Kitchener Drive, Princess Way, Everest Court, but they're particularly impressed to see the lengths we've been to in our recognition of the struggle for equality in naming a fairly major route; Black Dyke Road.

Not so bizarre, but there's a 'Robert Millar's vei' a few hunded yards away from where I live!

Unfortunately, it's not named after the great Scot, but an Irish priest who came to Norway at the beginning of the last century.

I think I might try and nick the road sign!
