According to the report he was suspended by Tinkoff because Contador did not perform well. Sounds a bit like English football club behaviour in the boardrooms. !!!!!!!!!!

And Riis was the owner a few years ago.

That's the trouble when you get into bed with the wrong bed fellow!

I don't think Riis will give a toss. He sold the team to Tinkov for a huge amount right at the top of the market.

I don't know.

Pride, reputation (what's left of it after admitting to cheating) and seeing his team go the way of Premier League football teams, as Keith said above, will leave more than just a sour taste in his mouth, I'd imagine.

I'm with DP on this. BR created the team, sold to OT for a huge amount AND was kept on as 'manager/consultant' for a huge salary. Much higher than at an equivalent position in a well-funded team.
If he has any pride or reputation remaining, he could go and build another squad elsewhere. Unlikely, methinks.

The word in the Danish press is that Tinkoff demoted one of the sports directors who Riis hired and that started it all. Contadors like of form is also mentioned.

The Saxo Bank CEO is apparently hopeful of a "reunion". Meanwhile, Tinkov had another (vodka-fuelled?) rant on twitter last night, using bad google translate to sling insults at Danish fans and the country in general.

Merchandise sales in Denmark could be on the way to a nosedive. Good news for Team Cult Energy, hopefully. No great loss if Riis goes away for good.

Mr Tinkov seems to be an impatient person used to getting what he wants, any way he wants. So owning a team that is not winning much (wonder why?) must be frustrating. Still it's cheaper than running a footy team. Sacking the management shows little understanding, maybe Vino will be next to be asked to take over and "get results"?

Vino? For those of us with less insight.
