Bkool - Virtual cadence?

I have read somewhere that the pro trainer uses virtual cadence. What exactly is this?

I believe it looks at the ebb and flow of the power delivery on the trainer to determine cadence. I think the advice is if you can live with the variability it is ok. If you want a more accurate way, get a cadence sensor that is Ant+ compatable.
