It's all your fault. Cycle Chat I mean.
I was quietly pootling around on my MTB and my conservative little tourer. Then ... I became a member on here, just a matter of days ago.
Now, I've joined the dark side!
Over breakfast this morning, having exchanged anniversary cards, I casually mentioned to SWMBO that I:
"Need a road bike".
"Why?"
"Cos Cycle Chat says so."
"Well, you'd better get one then darling."

So I wandered into Decathlon in Stockport this morning.
"Have you got one of those Triban 500 thingys?"
"Nope, they're not released yet."
"But they're on t'internet site."
"Sorry"
"Well, what about one o' them there Triban 5s?"
"Not in your size sir."
"Well what have you got in my size."
"Only these white Triban 3s."
I didn't want a white Triban 3.
So I set off back home calling into a LBS on the way.
Two hours later I came out with this:
Ok, ok, it's last year's model but it was an irresistable bargain (really it was dear xxx).
And then, I just had to take it out for a spin. Just an hour or so to try to get my head round these gear changy wotsits. I even managed to climb up on o' them "steeper than 20%" hills (thanks to all those who educated me earlier this week). True I was in the lowest gear on my TRIPLE chainset, but it was first ride on a road bike.
Anyway ... I'm blamin' it on you lot.
