Blackberry on Virgin

Can you not just turn roaming off? Just got a BB myself so interested in all of this.

As a side issue, are yoiu getting an ok signal with the BB on Virgin ?
I found it impossible to get a signal when i had mine, swapped to 02...instantly better.
